Making Safer Sexy

Sexual Health Services

Claude Nicol Clinic/Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) Clinics

Offers full sexual health screening, HIV testing, Hepatitis B vaccinations, free condoms and lubricant.
The best place to go for advice about any aspect of sexual health and treatment is your local GUM Clinic which specialises in sexual health and the treatment of sexually transmitted infections. They can offer specialist care and advice quickly and efficiently.  There are two reasons for this:

  • GUM Clinics are covered by different legislation to General Practitioners which allows patients to be treated in confidence. This means that any information about treatment you receive and the results of any tests will not appear on your medical records.
  • This is important as mortgage and life assurance companies often request sexual health information from GP's who are obliged by law to disclose such details. This may affect your chances of obtaining a mortgage or life cover. Some companies may refuse cover if the applicant has had a HIV test even if the result is negative.

GUM services are free to all patients, regardless of residency status (international students can use the service free of charge).

  • Address: Claude Nicol Centre (GUM), Outpatients Dept. of Royal Sussex County Hospital, Eastern Road, Brighton
